Finishers Summer Bash 4 Recap – Title Matches, PDMA Awards, and a Look Ahead

Finishers Summer Bash 4 brought the heat to Bethlehem, PA on August 10, 2025, streaming free on FloGrappling’s YouTube channel. The card featured three title fights, a slate of high-paced matches, and plenty of moments for the highlight reel. Here’s how it all went down plus the PDMA picks for Match of the Night and Performance of the Night.

Non-Title Matches

  • Asher May kicked things off with a Round 1 knee bar win, setting the tone for the undercard.

  • George Whitehead earned a decision victory.

  • William Highfield got the crowd going with a Round 2 rear naked choke finish.

  • Jack Sudduth secured an arm triangle in Round 2.

  • Elijah Flores was one half of the duo that took home the PDMA Match of the Night after a gritty comeback. Down two rounds heading into the third, he and his opponent maintained a high pace and technical exchanges throughout. Flores closed the show with an Americana from scarf hold (there's probably a better name for this sub but it's the one where you finish the Americana with the person's arm between your legs....you know what I'm talking about).

  • Jonathan Lopez locked in a Round 2 kimura.

  • Gabriella Bermudez wasted no time, finishing with a Round 1 rear naked choke.

  • Madeleine Avila won a unanimous decision in a dominant victory.

  • Nicholas Willey ended things early with a Round 1 knee bar.

Title Fights

145lb Title – Nick Digiacomo vs. Efrain Garcia

Nick Digiacomo (Webb MMA / Illuminati Grappling Club) took home the PDMA Performance of the Night, winning a unanimous decision in a high-paced battle against Efrain Garcia. Digiacomo dominated from start to finish, showcasing relentless pressure and creative attacks while being cornered by Jay Regalbuto. Garcia, coming off a Fury Pro Grappling win and big results at NAGA, showed his speed and submission-hunting style, but Nick’s control sealed the belt.

115lb Title – Alex Nguyen vs. Nicole Bye

Alex Nguyen (Standard BJJ) continued her record-breaking run for most title defenses in Finishers history, submitting Nicole Bye by armbar in Round 1. Bye entered on a three-fight Finishers win streak, but Nguyen’s precision and composure kept her streak alive.

170lb Title – Derin Yusufi vs. Jordan Juliano

In a tactical battle, Derin Yusufi (Bergen County BJJ) defeated Jordan Juliano by split decision. Juliano pushed forward with passing attempts, but Yusufi’s active guard game and forward movement in key exchanges earned him the nod from the judges.

PDMA Awards

  • Match of the Night: Elijah Flores (10th Planet Reading) vs Savion Maranon (Notorious MMA)

    • This was everything you want in a grappling match. Pace, technique, and drama from start to finish. Both Elijah Flores and Savion Maranon brought a relentless tempo and sharp technical exchanges, trading sweeps, passes, and submission attempts in a truly competitive scrap. Heading into the third round, Flores was down two rounds but kept pressing, eventually pulling off an Americana from scarfhold, a creative, decisive finish that sealed the win. It was a high-level battle that showcased the skill and heart of both athletes, and we’re looking forward to seeing each of them back on the Finishers mats.
  • Performance of the Night: Nick Digiacomo – dominant title win at 145lbs.

    • From the opening exchange of his 145lb title fight, Nick Digiacomo looked locked in. Representing Webb MMA and Illuminati Grappling Club, and cornered by Jay Regalbuto, Nick set a blistering pace that Efrain Garcia couldn’t match. He dictated every position, threatened from multiple angles, and never let up over the course of the match. Against a quick, submission-hunting opponent coming off big wins at Fury Pro Grappling and NAGA, Nick’s control and dominance stood out. This was a complete, championship-level performance that cemented him as one of the top competitors on the Finishers circuit.

(These awards are my picks and not official Finishers honors. If you don't like them, yell at me not Zach.)
